Good Dashboard Tools
exports the application data to a SQL Server 2005 data cube. My users are
clamoring for dashboards. Can anybody recommend good tools for building web
based dashboards that get their data from a SQL Server 2005 data cube?
TIA,
josh
p.s. Sorry for the cross-post. I'm a newbie to these news groups and
wasn't sure where to place this question.
Check out panorama software at:
http://www.panorama.com/
Its a powerfull enterprise web based Olap tool that include
a very good dashboard and KPI analytic platform.
See under products list:
http://www.panorama.com/products/index.html
At that site, you can follow some of thier customers stories as well.

GLOBAL CUBE slicing and security challenge
Hi Guys,
Context
I'm working with SSAS 2005 SP2. I'm quite new at it and I'm struggling with an interesting challenge.
I have to create cube files so that Sales Representatives can browse their data offline. A Sales Representative can see his own sales data but also the sales data of the other sales representative with whom he is sharing customers.
For this purpose, I want to use the CREATE GLOBAL CUBE-statement.
I don't know how to implement the last requirement. In T-SQL, it will look as follows for the Sales Reps named "J. Do".
WITH Sales_Reps_Cust(CUSTOMER_ID) AS
(
SELECT F_S.CUSTOMER_ID
FROM FACT.SALES F_S
INNER JOIN DIM.CUSTOMER D_C
ON F_S.CUSTOMER_ID = D_C.CUSTOMER_ID
INNER JOIN DIM.SALES_REPRESENTATIVE D_SR
ON F_S.SALES_REPRESENTATIVE_ID = D_SR.SALES_REPRESENTATIVE_ID
WHERE SALES_REPRESENTATIVE_NAME = 'J. Do'
GROUP BY F_S.CUSTOMER_ID
)
SELECT FS.*
FROM FACT.SALES FS
INNER JOIN Sales_Reps_Cust D_C
ON F_S.CUSTOMER_ID = D_C.CUSTOMER_ID
Questions
In fact, I create a set of all customers of 'J. Do' and then I want to use this set to slice my cube. How can I use this way of thinking in order to make my cube file with CREATE GLOBAL CUBE?
Please advice...
Kind regards,

Giving roles access to perspectives
In BOL, the page on creating perspectives says
"Dimension and cell security for a perspective are derived from the source cube. However, roles can be given or denied access to a perspective. A role can be denied access to a cube and given access to a perspective of the cube."
However, I can't find out how to grant access to a perspective. There doesn't seem to be anything about it on BOL, and the perspectives don't appear anywhere in the role editor.
Can anybody tell me how to do this? Sorry if I'm being stupid and missing something obvious!
Unfortunately in this version of Analysis Services it is not possible to assign security permission to perspective.

Of cource you can't expect any public commitment to any particular feature :). It has been requested by many customers.
You can create a role object and use BI Dev Studio to grant/deny permissions to dimension members of specific attribute.
